Dusy Basin - August 2007 : A three day backpacking trip with Kyle in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. August 17-19, 2007. This was his first time backpacking and first time in the Sierras. Day 1 was from South Lake over Bishop Pass into Dusy Basin. Day 2 was spent exploring the upper and lower Dusy Basin in Kings Canyon National Park. Day 3 was back over Bishop Pass to South Lake.

Onion Valley to Matlock Lake - June 12, 2007 : The first day of a two day backpacking trip from Onion Valley on the east side of the Sierras. This gallery includes pictures from the trailhead to Matlock Lake. I camped near Flower Lake that night and was greeted by a bear in the middle of the night. The next morning I hiked to Kearsarge Pass (11,760') before returning to San Diego that night. Rather than making one massive gallery, I divided this trip up into two sections. Big Pine Lakes - Palisade Glacier : July 12-16, 2006. This was a four day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The North Fork of Big Pine Canyon contains 9 major lakes (and several smaller ones). We hiked to the Palisade Glacier, the largest glacier in the Sierras, at just above 12,000 ft. Some hike highlights included views of The Palisades- the highest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in California, and Temple Crag, a beautiful peak visible throughout much of the hike.

North Lake to Florence Lake - PANORAMA PICTURES : These are panoramic pictures from a 5 day backpacking trip in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Panoramas were stitched together using an easy to use program called Autostitch (www.autostitch.net). The best way to view these panoramas is to select the original size image (or at least x2 or x3) and scroll across. Some of these images would be more than 15 feet long if printed at full size. This trans-Sierra trip started at North Lake near Bishop on the east side of the Sierras, and ended at Florence Lake on the west side. Some of the highlights of this hike included Piute Lake, Piute Pass, Humphreys Basin, the Glacier Divide, Mount Humphreys, Hutchinson Meadow, Piute Canyon, San Joaquin River, and Florence Lake.
